Understanding The Piano

Previously, we learned about half steps and whole steps by using a numbered keyboard, a great way to start, but in music, we don’t use numbers, we use notes.

First, let’s review half and whole steps without the numbers.

In the following examples, the green piano key represents the first note and the gold key represents the second note selected. Determine whether the distance between the two notes is a half step or a whole step.
