First, let’s take a look at the parts of a guitar just to get familiar with it. We will be using certain terms throughout this course so if you are not sure what or where it is, here is your reference.
The most important to know is:
nut, tuners, neck, fretboard, frets
Below we see an electric guitar with its parts labeled.
NUT - Every string on the guitar passes through the nut. The nuts sets the string spacing and alignment for the strings. After the nut, the strips are fed to the tuners.
TUNERS - The strings loop into the gunners and by turning the tuners the pitch of the string is changed.
NECK - The neck of the guitar includes the frets, fretboard, tuners, and headstock.
FRETBOARD - Where we place our hands to play the guitar.
FRETS - Frets are raised metal strips on the neck inserted into the fretboard.
