Additional Exercises Using Whole, 1/2, 1/4 Notes
Lets review what we've discussed so far:
- Whole notes.
- 1/2 notes.
- 1/4 notes.
Dictation is not about perfect penmanship but about hearing. Hearing all the rhythms being played and documenting the performance. This practice will perfect our hearing and understanding of the rhythms of multiple styles of music.
Here are some additional exercises to listen to, count to, write out, play on your instrument, and clap to. The answers are under each but don't cheat. Listen and write out the rhythms, then check your work.
Below is a template you can use for writing out rhythms.
