Extended Keyboard

Extended Keyboard

It is very important to understand the difference in computer keyboards. There are keyboard shortcuts that can only be accessed with the use of an extended keyboard. This means that laptops are usually not compatible with these shortcuts. Shortcuts are the key to speed and ease of getting around in an application, so you may want to add an extended keyboard to your Pro Tools arsenal.

If you don't want the physical size of an extended keyboard, a numeric keypad can be added to achieve the same outcome. Numeric keypads are inexpensive and connect easily through USB or Bluetooth (wireless). They are ideal for laptop users. It’s up to you.

A question I hear a lot is, "if I have an Apple computer can I connect a PC keyboard to it?" The answer is yes.

"If I have a PC is an Apple keyboard ok to use?" The answer is also yes.

The only difference between the two keyboards is which key to depress for a specific shortcut. On my systems, I tend to use both Apple and PC keyboards, yes on the same system.
