Ok, Let's start learning how Pro Tools works.
As songwriters, we know music has to have a tempo.
To keep tempo in Pro TooIs we use a Click Track.
A Click Track is nothing more than setting up a metronome to practice your piano, guitar, violin, or other instrument with. The constant click that keeps us on the beat.
Letβs create a Click track.
Great, that was easy.
Listening More Closely
Listen to the clicks carefully. We are in 4/4 time.
Out of the 4 clicks we hear 1 high pitched click and 3 lower pitched clicks, then it repeats. The high-pitched click represents beat 1 and the lower-pitched clicks represent beats 2, 3, and 4. These 4 clicks tell us we are in 4/4 time.
SETUP HINT
As songwriters, we understand that we will always need a click track for each of our Sessions. Pro Tools by default does not automatically place a click track in our new session. I don't know why, it makes sense to me to do it. That means we need to add a click track every time we start a new session, what a waste of time.
Let's fix that now.
